9 - Into the Hole

Sam and Sally stepped into the hole
It was dark and very, very small
Into the hole
And there was no air at all, oh no
So they had to hurry
As they tried not to worry

Fortunately, it didn’t take long
For them to reach the exit
Whereupon
They found a clearing
A pretty spot with a stream, that’s right
So they took off their shoes
And dipped their feet in the water

The water was cool and the day was nice
But the place was strange and both were anxious
To get moving
And find a trail to follow
So they put on their shoes
And started looking for a hollow

And there it was, a gap in the bushes
With a path going straight through the fuchsias
Into the woods
And it led them to a dwelling
So they knocked on the door
And waited, quietly shaking
